Research Partnerships
Collaborating for Wildlife Conservation Excellence
Building bridges between research, conservation practice, and community action across Uganda's protected areas
At Uganda Wildlife Research and Training College, we believe that transformative conservation research requires collaborative effort. Our partnerships span government agencies, conservation organizations, local communities, and field practitioners—all working together to address Uganda's most pressing wildlife conservation challenges.
🤝 Our Collaborative Approach
Every research project at UWRTC integrates multiple stakeholder perspectives, combining scientific rigor with traditional knowledge, community insights, and practical field experience to generate actionable conservation solutions.
Current Collaborators
Organizations and communities working alongside UWRTC to advance wildlife research and conservation
Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)
Our primary partner in conservation management, UWA collaborates with UWRTC on field research, provides access to protected areas, and integrates research findings into park management strategies.
National Environment Management Authority (NEMA)
NEMA partners with UWRTC on environmental monitoring and assessment, ensuring research aligns with national environmental standards and contributes to evidence-based policy development.
Local Communities
Communities surrounding Queen Elizabeth, Kibale, and Murchison Falls National Parks actively participate in research as knowledge holders, field assistants, and co-investigators in conservation initiatives.
District & Municipal Authorities
Local government units collaborate on human-wildlife conflict mitigation, resource management, and implementing community-based conservation interventions across district boundaries.
Tour Operators & Park Staff
Tourism professionals and park rangers contribute valuable incident reports, wildlife observations, and field data that supplement systematic research collection efforts.
Conservation NGOs
Conservation organizations partner with UWRTC to amplify research impact, support community interventions, and translate findings into on-ground conservation action.
Supported by the Government of Uganda
UWRTC's research portfolio is proudly funded by the Government of the Republic of Uganda, demonstrating national commitment to evidence-based wildlife conservation and sustainable natural resource management.
