Principal research officer

Joel Ongom is a Principal Research Officer at the Uganda Wildlife Research and Training College (UWRTC), with over 15 years of multidisciplinary experience spanning plant sciences, ecological research, conservation, and higher education. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology at Makerere University, building on his earlier qualifications that include an MSc in Crop Science (Plant Protection) and a BSc in Botany/Zoology, also from Makerere University. His current research explores the ecological impacts of biological invasions, with an ongoing study examining the “Effects of Dichrostachys cinerea management on soil properties and macrofauna in Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda”.
